In the Saudi legal system, there are two ways to indict a person: Proof of evidence or confession, & confessions are the most prevalent means of convictions
The situation of the women activists is not different, as evidence is not available, they come up with a confession that fit exactly the state's views on the reason of arrests
As in most cases of prisoners of conscience, lack of criminal code on what constitutes a crime (as contacting hostile org.), lack of access to lawyers & independent judiciary create amble venue for incriminating activists
There are also people detained since last September without any trials or due process, it only proves the fragility of human security (economic, social or religious), many are detained on suspicions without evidence
It also shows what happen when the world powers fail to promote stability & security in their foreign policy & prioritize arm deals & intelligence sharing, the very people working towards societal support and empowerment are stifled & targeted
A state that owns and commands huge resources to furnish its international status and reputation, yet unable to tolerate a few women & men who stood in solidarity with women equality & prevention of violence
