Maria Vladimirovna Zakharova the Director of Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for #Russia stated that the #USA was going to use #WMD in #Ukraine in order to change public opinion about #Russia. ria.ru/20220423/davle…
"It is obvious that the original plan of the United States was to put economic pressure on Russia in order to force it to completely reconsider its legitimate security interests.”
“Now the States are moving to
the use of WMD, in fact - to the games behind the "red line". If this happens, the victims will be incalculable. And each of them is
on the conscience of American strategists in the offices of the White House, the State Department and The Pentagon..”

Three possible scenarios to explain this intensified messaging by #Russia regarding #WMD use in #Ukraine: 1) Russia has reliable intel that the #USA and #Ukraine are planning this attack and have released this info to stave off the attack or ensure the world knows who did it.
2) #Russia does not have reliable intel of such an attack but is deeply concerned about the possibility. Therefore #Russian leadership wants to get this message out in front of the potential calamity of #WMD use in #Ukraine and to ensure the world knows 🇷🇺 is not to blame.
3) Growing casualties, slow progress and an increasingly entrenched #Ukraine have caused #Russian leadership to lose patience with the #War. 🇷🇺 has decided to try to break the countries resolve and armed forces ability and will to fight with a series of #WMD attacks.

Speaking w/some contacts in #Russia to try to understand evolving sentiments in society re: #RussiaUkraineWar, 3 factors stand out for me:

1. Adaptive behaviour
2. "Besieged fortress"
3. State propaganda working wonders

A thread. /1
1. Adaptive behaviour: Many Russians say "what is expected of them" - they support the #Kremlin on #Ukraine. They might (or not!) hold different views privately, but perceived social pressures + fear of reprisal drive adaptive behaviour - so you can best cope in everyday life /2
2. Besieged fortress: Adaptive behaviour is amplified by a sense among many Russians that their isolation& life under sanctions will be for a long time. Plus, whether you wanted the war or not, Russia is now "mobilized" against immense outside pressures. Result: consolidation. /3

Putin meant to grab #Ukraine & drive wedges between #NATO & #Russian-bordering nations.
Instead, he's evoked unification of economic, military & political forces across Europe, G7, the @EU @imf @WorldBank & @NATO into a block of unprecedented unity & resolve, that met today.

2/ It's been called the strongest alliance since WWII. But today's @NATO declaration, coupled w/alliances #Biden has formed, leaves #Russia isolated, issues a clear call-out to #China & makes ironclad an all-of-Europe mutual defense posture that's quite unprecedented.

3/ This is one of the most historic declarations of the last century. It quite simply realigns the world, geopolitically -- going well beyond response to the #russianinvasion of #Ukraine . We are witnessing a crushing defeat of #Putin's masterplan to divide the West.

All the mistakes were made in Afghanistan are being repeated re China.

1. We are blindly following the US in order to ‘make them like us’. By doing so we both empower them to pursue a reckless unilateral policy, and lose our chance to be a moderating influence.
2. We are (ostensibly) trying to influence domestic policy of a sovereign country (Human Rights) by threatening their sovereignty, and dropping bombs on them.
We have no workable plan except propaganda, and sending lots and lots of military hardware into the region which will then (magically) kill ‘the bad guys’ if they don’t do what we want, but spare the ‘women and girls’

Several questions about protecting the inaugural, put to me by @ShawnAndersonDC and @bhaseltonWTOP on the air @wtop today.

1. How is Secret Service planning to protect the Inauguration from the violence that occurred last week?
Planning is the key word. They’ve been planning this inauguration for more than a year. And it’s important to note that comparing security around the Capitol on an ordinary day and an inauguration are like comparing an Apple to an entire Orange tree.
On Inauguration Day there are many thousands of people involved in protection that we don't see. There are technological capabilities, military and cyber assets, There are #WMD assets. The air, water and land are covered like a blanket.

I am pretty sure most of my followers don’t buy into the conspiracy theory that #COVID-19 is a #bioweapon created by the United States (or anyone else), but for anyone who does, here’s a quick history lesson. (1/7)
The US eliminated its offensive #biowarfare program in 1969. President Nixon said at the time, “Biological weapons have massive, unpredictable, and potentially uncontrollable consequences. They may produce global #epidemics and impair the health of future generations.” (2/7)
America’s renunciation of its BW program was the first time that a major power unilaterally abandoned an entire category of WMD. For more on Nixon’s decision, @WMDCenter has a great case study by the late Jonathan Tucker, available online: wmdcenter.ndu.edu/Portals/97/Doc…. (3/7)

The #ChineseShip detained by India and the international duplicity.
The Department of Revenue Intelligence and #Kandla Customs detained a Chinese ship on February 3 for carrying a falsely declared “dual use” industrial autoclave as an industrial dryer, which can be used in the manufacture of ballistic missiles.
Now the scientists from the #DRDO are examining the suspected cargo of the Chinese ship #DaiCuiYun, bound for the Port of Karachi to ascertain whether the 2005 Indian law against #WMD and the international laws on the same can be invoked against both the consignee & consignor.

Extremely disappointing that you - or anyone - would attempt to tarnish Ray McGovern's character using a comparison with the same WMD lie he exposed and warned against.
In fact, it’s worse than sad, you’ve missed the boat completely.

#Russiagate is the current equivalent of the #WMD myth. It is the war hawk theory based on no evidence. All we have done: dare to report factual, publicly available information that contradicts that narrative.
You, on the other hand, have engaged in scare tactics, doxxing, and attempted character assassination in order to make the dissenting voices and **the evidence** they cite disappear in a fog of cognitive dissonance.

👁‍🗨(1) “When sorrows come, they come not single spies, but in battalions” -Shakespeare
You’ve heard the name a lot lately it’s “MI6” and one of its former spies compiled the #TrumpDossier but perhaps we’ve forgotten our history with them? Hint: WMD’s
(2) In 2003 an American whistleblower from the U.N named Scott Ritter came forward and claimed that MI6 had a campaign to exaggerate the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. it was called #OperationMassAppeal and it’s intent was to “shake up public opinion”
(3) #OperationMassAppeal depended on using non-actionable intelligence and spoon feeding it to the media. It was a disinformation campaign run by MI6 against Iraq. In 1998 it was leaked to press in Washington and then suddenly vanished.
