Succesful Mexicans in the US

Dorothy Ruiz Martínez- was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. When she was a little girl, she would accompany her grandparents to the US to pick fruit or vegetable. Years later, she moved to the US.
As a young girl, she would look up at the starts and dream about space travel. Dorothy attended the University of Oklahoma and graduating from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering.
She interned at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Virginia, researching cryogenic materials for reusable launch vehicles. There, she felt at peace with her decision to pursue a career in spaceflight.
As an astronaut instructor years later, seeing the space shuttle majestically take off and finally understanding the launch system and how it worked, “it was like a closure,” Ruiz-Martinez said. “I could finally answer my questions.”
In an interview, she said that people would assume that she was the cleaning lady because she was Mexican. They would not believe her that she was an Aerospace Engineer.
Today, she answers other kids’ questions through her outreach work with Johnson Space Center’s Hispanic Employee Resource Group and additional educational opportunities. She’s working to make sure future explorers don’t fear the language of mathematics.
Like many Mexicans in the US, she has experienced racism. That never stopped her from accomplishing her goals. To learn more about Dorothy, you can go to NASA" website or Google her name.
Dorothy is one of many successful Mexicans in the US. She is a role model and an inspiration.

When we send Mexicans, we send our best.

-Correction-

🔴She was born in the US but was raised in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
🔴Moved to the US when she was 16 years old.
-Correction-
🔴She was mistaken as the cleaning lady by other Mexicans.

They are many Mexicans that don't allow themselves to dream big. That when one of us is successful, they see it as rare.

I want to challenge other Mexicans to dream big and aim high. 😉
