There's another aspect of not revealing your plans, and that it prevents you from backing off.
You might think "Well sounds good to me, why would I want to back off?!"
Sometimes you have to because things don't work out as expected.

Why sabotage yourself?
"Oliver, what's the problem in going back?"

When you think about that now, you think clearly, your ego is off.
But when your ego is on, you don't think clearly.

Going back means admitting you were wrong, and your ego HATES IT!
People would rather lose tons of cash then admit it
"I go all in and suffer everything, but in the end, I will come out as the winner and prove them all I was right".

Sadly, it rarely happens, you just lose and that's it.
My father was supposed to start a new job today.
He was talking about this new job at his old workplace for 3 months straight, with everybody who asked him about it.
He was very enthusiastic to begin a new job after working in the same workplace for 40 years.
He talked too much, and everybody kept asking him "when do you begin with the new dream job?"

Today he went to the new workplace, turns out its shit and wasn't what he expected.
Now he doesn't have a job.
He can't go back to his old job because his ego is involved, he will also have to deal with the shame of being wrong, and face everybody else who heard he was leaving to a new "dream job" and got back just after a day.

A very sad situation to be in, and my mother warned him.
Don't be as stupid as my father was.
Don't talk about your plans until it works out.
If it doesn't work out, you retread and no major harm was done and if it works, then great!

Keep your mouth closed so you could keep your options open.
