Hello everyone today’s topic is about Ingredients In A Moisturiser & How To Choose a Moisturiser 💧

Moisturiser is made of a balance of three types of ingredients : Humectants, Emollients, and Occlusive agents. So moisturiser diperbuat dari :

• Humectants
• Emollients
• Occlusive

1. So apa itu Humectant?

A humectant is an ingredient that draws water molecules out of its environment towards itself. Humectant ni yg dia akan tarik air dkat permukaan kulit kita.

Tgok gmbr ni apa apa H20 dia akan attract dkat kulit kita beep beep dia jalan dkat kulit kita

Humectant is closely related to Hydration. Apa maksud Hydration?

Example of Humectant is Hyaluronic Acid , Glycerin , Sodium Lactate, Urea, Lactic acid, Sorbitol, and Butylene glycol.

Ingat mcm ni Humectant - Tarik Air. Humectant dia akan tarik air dkat kulit kita 😊💧

So kulit mana yg sesuai humectant ni? ALL SKIN TYPES. It doesn’t matter if you have oily skin , dry skin , sensitive skin you need humectant in your skin care ingredients. Hydration - Humectants 💧

2. Emollient. Apa itu emollient?

An emollient is an ingredient that smooths the skin’s surface by filling in cracks between skin cells. They make the skin more soft and flexible.

Tgok gmbr ni, emollient ni dia akan fill in the cracks when the skin cells fallen off.

Nmpk tak gmbr atas tuh yg fill in the cracks is Lipid. Lipid ni laaa yg hold our skin together. Dia mcm cement yg hold batu bata.

Yg ni yg orang ckap moisture barrier tuh 😊

So Emollients - Fill In Cracks

Example of emollients :

Stearic, Linoleic, Lauric, Oleic, Linoleic, and Ceramides.

3. Occlusive. Apa itu Occlusive?

Occlusive agents are the ingredients in skincare that form a film on the skin and prevent water loss through the skin.

Tgok gmbr ni, Occlusive - prevent water loss & retain moisture.

Example of occlusive ingredient :

Lanolin, Zinc oxide, and Silicones. Some oils, like castor, mineral, and jojoba oil, work as both emollients and occlusive agents.

So let’s recall.

Humectant - Tarik Air
Emollient - Fill in Cracks
Occlusive - Prevent Water Loss

• Kenapa bila pakai moisturiser tgah hari dh rsa kulit kering?

Lack of occlusive ingredients - ingat occlusive is to retain moisture.

• Kenapa bila pakai moisturiser kulit rasa berminyak?

Too much of occlusive ingredients , selalunya oily skin dia tak suka occlusive -

Sebab occlusive ni dia akan buat rasa mcm waxy & greasy feeling.

Dry skin (Lack of Oil) - Look for moisturizers that have a higher level of emollients to help fill in the lipids layer on the skin.

Dehydrated skin (Lack of Water) - Look for moisturiser that have a higher level of humectants to seal in water to skin.

Liah Yoo ajar kalau nk cari moisturiser, pergi cari tester and try apply it on your hand. Go outside go for a drink for 30 minutes & look back at your hand. Occlusive - the ability to retain moisture.
