h/t to @mydoghasagun for finding the Lathrop, CA site and to @paul91701736 for the aerial photos. there's some debate whether Tesla's use of the site is part of a well-planned logistics strategy (electrek's take) or a desperate measure to store unsold / incomplete cars (my take).
were an established, $50B+ market cap car company to need a large piece of land to store cars as a routine step in its logistics plan, it might likely secure that land well in advance of when it needs it - it does not appear $tsla secured the Lathrop site very far in advance.
Tesla's owned or leased properties in Lathrop, CA have increased over the past few years - 
but 500 E. Louise Ave. is not mentioned in the 2017 10-k.
here are the properties that I believe are included in the 2017 10-k (the 400 D'Arcy is off by 980 SF, so I am not 100% certain) -
if we zoom out a bit, we see 500 E. Louise just to the north of Tesla's four 2017 10-k listed properties (car park areas shaded in red) -
finally, it's odd that 500 E. Louise is available for lease (or was on 6/25/18); may be that the owner is leasing the grounds to $tsla on a temporary basis.. end of thread.
