The anti-gun Left says “no” to 3D-printed guns because they’re “untraceable.” But under most circumstances, it’s already LEGAL to build your own guns. And it’s already ILLEGAL for the federal government to register firearms.
As for the claim that 3D-printed guns are “undetectable,” it’s already ILLEGAL to make an all-plastic gun. And guns won’t work without bullets, which are made of various metals that are certainly detectable to screening devices.

Bottom line: Our rights are not defined by what criminals might do. Just as we do not shut down printing presses because someone might use it to libel. To focus solely on the possible abuses of 3D-printed guns would be like ...
... only focusing on deaths result from doctor’s negligence -- which are around 250,000 per year -- and ignoring the overwhelming amount of good that they do. Likewise, we must not forget that 3D-printed guns can save lives, too.
