The younger daughter is at sleepaway camp, and they have email time in the morning. I wrote her to request that she send me a three-sentence email this time—most of hers have been just three or four words so far.
Her reply: "You're. So. Mean."

But that wasn't the best part. The best part was her next email, sent moments later.
"And. Two. Spaces. After. A. Period."
The child really knows how to hurt me. She's going to be an amazingly effective teenager.
Okay, so I fibbed a little. The first email in the exchange actually read "Your. So. Mean.," and my first reply was "You meant 'you’re,' not 'your.'"

Her reply to that?
"Your. So. Mean."
Me: "You are amazing. I love you."

Her: "Thank you for noticing."
