*PLEASE RT* This scumbag broke into my sisters house in Stockport today at 2pm and stole valuables. My sister lost her 14 year old son in March and nobody has touched his room since, this bastard rummaged through his bedroom and took his stuff. We are absolutely heartbroken.
Valuables can be replaced. We intended for my beloved nephews bedroom to stay exactly the way he left it, this fucking scumbag has taken that from us. PLEASE RT and help us find him

Today is the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht. I'm going to talk about this in some detail, because the circumstances surrounding it are incredibly relevant to what's happening right now in the US.

Let's start with terminology. The Nazis were great at propaganda. The name "Kristallnacht," the Night of Broken Glass, is propaganda. It is evocative, almost beautiful. And that's the point.

It hides that it was a state-sponsored pogrom that killed 91+ Jews in a poetic name.
Some people use Reichskristallnacht to highlight that it was state sponsored. But the term used in Yiddish-speaking communities at the time is more to the point.

My 9 year-old son, Zen, is having me decorate his entire room in all things @halloates. I also bought his all of his Favorite vinyl albums (he has a turntable, yes, he's 9) He has been listening to them since he was 7. He knows every single song and Album by heart. #ParentingTips
We are painting 3 of the walls grey and will ad accents of red, blue and yellow to match #BigBamBoom which is his favorite Album. I order him a Wall Size poster of the album cover and Private Eyes smaller poster along with a Calendar from 1984 with all their album covers!
I will take pictures and add it this Tweet thread when I am done. Oh, I forgot, the 1 wall that is not painted grey will be black - chalkboard wall. He will have his art supplies mounted on the wall with his dry erase board, chalk, and a place to paint.

Today, I'm in McAllen, TX. What I've witnessed here is truly disturbing. People are being held in cages – there's no other way to describe it. There are children by themselves. Mothers with young babies. They have nothing but the clothes on their backs
I spoke with one woman from El Salvador at a CBP processing center. She gave a policeman a drink of water, and the gangs came after her. She sold everything she had and fled with her 4-year-old son because their lives were in danger.
I believe that when a woman flees the only home she's ever known with her 4-year-old son and begs the United States of America for asylum, she deserves a fair hearing. I believe that every human being has worth. We must do better.

Today I visited an ICE detention facility outside Baltimore with @Call_Me_Dutch.

There we spoke for an hour with two fathers, Carlos and Mario, who had been separated from their children, a 7-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl, for months.

What they told us was so disturbing:
We went to this facility in Anne Arundel County to get a sense of what was happening with family separation at the border.

I want to say up front I appreciate the federal and county officials who worked with my staff to arrange this visit, and to @Call_Me_Dutch for welcoming us
With help @CAIRCoalition we identified 2 fathers held there who had been separated from their children and uncertain of their status.

After meeting with ICE and local officials, we spent an hour talking to these fathers, agreeing not to use their full names for their protection.
