1/ I was at sightglass just now watching someone get fired...
2/ So I thought: "boy, this sucks & will be a horrible day for him - I should get this guy a beer!"
3/ Sightglass (coffee shop) doesn't have beer so next best thing is to get ice cream (they do affogatos). Who doesn't like ice cream right?
4/ I hand the dude ice cream & guy firing him says: "uh, who is that for? Wait, not sure you think what's happening is happening..."
5/ I assume he's just trying to protect the other guy's integrity so I just say: "no problem, enjoy the ice cream either way" & proceed to move away to give them privacy.
6/ Turns out they were role playing to fire someone. 🤦🏾‍♂️
7/ Moral of the story: if you want free ice cream just hmu. Now you know how.

Absolutely mind-blown that I had no idea that (1) You can install a Linux sub-system on Windows, (2) Which means you can run all Linux things, (3) I can't think of a great reason to use macOS (other than iMessage).

Microsoft has come so far. I had totally written it off.
Add hyper.is & you're golden.
Installing a sub-system isn't "dual booting." You can install Ubuntu while running Windows 10, apt-get install & run Linux programs at the same time. It's actually better than the half-supported UNIX that's on macOS for development.

Idea skepticism in a nutshell:
(1) Yeah but have you heard of X company that's doing it?
(2) What if Google/Amazon does it?
(3) I wouldn't personally use it
(4) Here's a history of everyone that failed (you will too)
(5) It's a crowded space already

Don't let it demoralize you.
Every founder who starts a new company goes through dealing with a set of these comments on their journey.

Rather than give-in & give up, I think it's more critical to validate whether there's a huge problem worth solving vs. validation through "what do you think" conversations.
Counters to idea skepticism:
(1) If it's so good, why aren't they massive yet?
(2) What if I focus on it & they don't?
(3) n=1
(4) Here's what's happened in the last 10 years to make it viable
(5) We're focused on solving X problem really, really well

Surprised to find how poor the support is to deploy AI models on mobile. Huge opportunity for someone to simplify this just like when it was tough to deploy apps in the early days of iOS & Android.

PyTorch -> ONNX -> Caffe2 -> Android/iOS is a messy, poorly documented process.
If you know of a resource, please help. I’ve extensively googled around & about to go off deep end & painstakingly figure out how each of those frameworks to make the thing happen. Ugh.
Running off of nightlys just to have a chance at this point.

1/ There's no such thing as investors coming "off the sidelines" w/o other investors going on. Every outstanding share has to be held by someone at all times. Investors now require someone else to arrive and accept a higher price & lower return than they've already bargained for.

One day my brother @TheycallmeCOBY called me to meet him at the set of a movie shoot, as the backup actor who always covers up when an actor messing up - I gladly went!

"I have to go" I told my friends as I grabbed my phone & headed to the set location!

Immediately I left ikeja to head to gbagada I got a phone call from KK - "that girl you like is in my house now" he said, I told him I was in a hurry & would 'branch' his house when I'm through

I hurriedly found my way to the location, I asked what my role was & I was told
I was to lie to the girl & she would slap me thrice, "Why wouldn't the main actor abscond?" I thought..

I agreed to play the role for the love of the art;

We rehearsed & it was soon time to shoot, I said my lines & immediately she slapped me the light in the room went off!

As a Black man who was kicked out of a coffee shop in 2015 (not Starbucks but The Elmwood Cafe in Berkeley, CA) I have some thoughts. When I was kicked out, I was nervous they might call the cops. But they didn't. Probably because I was with my wife & her white skin. 1/
