It’s been exactly a year since I finished working on the Guide to International Law and Surveillance with @privacyint and it is just as relevant today as it was a year ago (and may be accessed here: privacyinternational.org/sites/default/…).
International and regional courts, international human rights treaty bodies, U.N. agencies, multilateral organizations, and special rapporteurs, have all published authoritative statements on the law surrounding the right to privacy in the sphere of surveillance.
The guide is thus an attempt to collate relevant excerpts from these judgments and reports into a single principled reference tool. The guide isn’t just aimed at lawyers. Its really a handy resource for anyone engaging in campaigning, advocacy, and research, on these issues.
A link to a video summary about the guide narrated by me is available here: facebook.com/506469968/post…
Biggest development in the field since the guide was published has to be the European Court of Human Rights judgment in Centrum För Rättvisa v. Sweden which summary and analysis you can find here: justsecurity.org/59923/legitimi…
