So I’m on Scottish soil for five minutes, and a member of staff for @WHSmith started firing abuse at me, much to the horror of the other two staff, because I was wearing a Yes badge. So I am tweeting WHSmith right now so they can begin their complaints procedure.
The branch of WHSmithis the one directly outside the arrivals gate. I popped I. To buy a copy of @PrivateEyeNews, and 20 Marlboro.
The arrivals gate at Edinburgh Airport. Anyway, a copy of Pricate Eue costs just £2, so I was very surprised to find the total bill as just short of £15.
“Wow! How much are fags these days?” I said. One of the staff shook their head, and said “Oh I know it’s terrible”. I then said “They only cost me €6.60 in Belgium”.
That’s when this other member of staff suddenly said “We’ll why don’t you just go back there then?”
“Excuse me?” I said. The other two staff kind of cringed with embarrassment.

“You heard” she said. “If you don’t like it, go back to where you came from. See you later, goodbye, cheerio!” Sarcastically waving at me.
One of the other staff said “You can’t speak him like that, he’s a paying customer!”
“Aye but look” she said, and then suddenly started prodding my snp badge. “He’s a fuckin’ Scottish Nose Picker!” Everyone in the shop couldn’t believe it.
She then walked off to I don’t know where, and everyone was just stood there shaking their heads. I paid for my goods, then went outside to smoke a cigarette.
Straight after the cigarette, I went straight back in. The woman still wasn’t there, so I spoke to a member of staff called Ben, and explained that I wasn’t going to put up with her rude behaviour and was going to put in a complaint.
Ben told me that the woman’s name was Lorraine, but he didn’t know her surname. So, @WHSmith, I would like to know how you are going to discipline this woman. Her behaviour was abhorrent. Her language disgraceful, and prodding me could well be considered assault.
This is NOT the kind of welcome I expect when I fly home. Told to fuck off back to Belgium literally minutes after landing.
