don't forget the ladies of horror this month. watch RAW, written and directed by the effortlessly cool julia ducournau
also watch Revenge (2017), written and directed by super cool Coralie Fargeat. a fantastic r*pe revenge story that might feel good to watch right now, who knows!
modern classic The Babadook was written and directed by Jennifer Kent. not only is it one of the ONLY movies i've ever seen to explore female depression/postpartum depression, but it spawned the babadook is gay meme which is the pinnacle of the internet imo
The Invitation, a stylish thriller directed by Karyn Kusama, has one of the best last shots i've ever seen
Goodnight Mommy, co-written and co-directed by Veronika Franz, is worth watching solely for all the cockroach face stuff (i love bugs in movies but realize it would be mean to post the still from THAT scene, i am a kind and gentle tweeter)
How about the fact that HAUSU (1977), one of the true bizarre masterpieces of horror cinema, based a ton of its iconic scares off the ideas of a preteen girl, Chigumi Obayashi, who got a Story By credit?
while we're all here: i saw a lot of these at Cinefamily, which was my 2nd home in LA b4 it shut down due to sexual abuse allegations. Fuck those villains at Cinefamily. I loved it so much and felt so betrayed by their actions. I mourn for the people they hurt.
i saw this exhilarating action-slasher short "Do No Harm" (written and directed by Roseanne Liang) last year and am so excited it's now online!!: vimeo.com/blog/post/do-n…
LOOK I'm going to keep this thread going because it's never not a good time for horror or thrillers or women!! Run to your nearest Netflix and watch "CAM," written by @isaiswrong. A truly gripping thriller and a fantastic portrayal of a sex worker who is actually a human being!!!
