I’m not sure O’Rourke’s impersonation of Barack Obama — lifting us up, everyone working together — is the most effective tactic possible debating Cruz. He comes off as a punching bag. #TXSenDebate
Good moment for @BetoORourke just now, rebutting Cruz’s (absurd) claim that Cruz can work with Trump on trade. Trump hasn’t worked with anyone in Congress on trade. #TXSenateDebate
Aesthetic point: I hate the 90 second answer/60 second rebuttal format. Even Cruz, a skilled and experienced debater, sounds sometimes like a auctioneer just trying to beat the time limit. #TXSenateDebate
It’s a serious mistake for @BetoORourke to let Cruz hammer away on the horror that impeaching Trump would be without responding. A President accepting Russian help to get elected has given good reason why impeachment should be on the table.
Decent closing by @BetoORourke (as an Obama impersonator, looking to inspire). Cruz, honestly, has a better closing. He wins #TexasSenateDebate on points.
