My father is a hunter. I thought I'd maybe give an alternative perspective.

First of all, most hunters eat what they kill. Greenwald is a vegetarian, so I understand his point of view, but hunting is consistent with eating meat. The moral issue is eating the meat, not hunting.
Hunting is about the challenge. They don't hunt cows, but wild prey who have evolved over billions to escape getting eaten. it's pretty darn hard. Hunters don't hunt domestic cows, for example.
It's also about other things. My dad has spent more time training hunting dogs than actually using them to hunt ducks/pheasant/etc. It's part of the challenge of not simply doing something, but doing it well.
Conversely, hunting and fishing is partly about going to remote areas and enjoying nature, camping out. Every hiking/camping trip we went on as a kid involved eating what we fished out of the remote lakes.
There is also food variety. Deer, pheasant, and other game tastes different than the industrial sameness. Again, if you are a meat eater, then it flows naturally that you'd want variety in meat.
Anyway, this thread isn't about hunting so much as "othering", how our increasingly polarized society makes us want to see those we disagree with as unreasonable, evil human beings -- instead of just people we disagree with.
