I have resisted unfriending or unfollowing people on SM just because they do not share my political views. I want to hear from people who don’t think like me so I can better understand their perspectives. #VoteOrBye
Even as civility on all fronts has largely vanished from our discourse, I have continued to read, listen and respond with civility. #VoteOrBye
Though I long for the days when political rivals in America could hold a conversation that didn’t devolve into ad hominem attacks and vile language, #VoteOrBye
I have continued to try to look past the regrettable word choices and look to understand a point of view and to try my best to sort through the lies, conjecture, echo-chamber chatter, bots, fakery and other nonsense to distill perspective. #VoteOrBye
But now I am giving serious consideration to applying a litmus test for the people I will follow or listen to: #VoteOrBye
If you are eligible to vote in this country and HAVE NOT REGISTERED or HAVE FAILED TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE, I really have no desire to hear from you. #VoteOrBye
I don’t care HOW you vote — whether you study each candidate and issue or just blindly check all the boxes for a single party. I only care THAT YOU VOTE. #VoteOrBye
Too many people have sacrificed their lives, their livelihoods, and their futures to provide you with this most precious of rights. #VoteOrBye
Our nation is at a crossroads that can only be navigated by all of us collectively engaging in this process. #VoteOrBye
Our political leaders will inevitably become even more tone deaf if we fail to overwhelm them with the power of our collective voice. #VoteOrBye
The PAC- and dark money-driven messaging that is now being passed off as political speech cannot prevail against the voices of all of us — expressed through our right to vote. #VoteOrBye
Voter suppression tactics cannot succeed in skewing the results if we all express our opinions by voting. #VoteOrBye
We the People are a tsunami of undeniable power if we simply unleash it. #VoteOrBye
Honor this legacy that so many have given their lives for. #VoteOrBye
And now that I have made this #DeclarationofInterdependence, I’m asking if there is a tool I could employ to confirm whether someone on SM has confirmed that they have registered to vote and have committed to registering. #VoteOrBye
I’ve seen voter registration tools and that’s great, but I’d like to see a way to declare my affirmed registration and commitment with an icon — like the “I Voted” sticker I get at every election. #VoteOrBye
So I’m asking the hive mind: what’s the best way to make this happen so I can ping all of my followers and those I’m following and confirm whether they are eligible and have registered so I can implement my #VoteOrBye strategy. Please share and thank you!
