Sections 354, 354A, 354B, 354C and 354D deal with criminal assualt with an intent of outraging modesty, SH, voyeurism and stalking. Any of these acts committed against a woman are liable for penal action against the perpetrator and can result in fine as well as imprisonment.
Section 375 deals with rape and section 376 lays down the punishment for the same.

@HavaldarShinde Let us start with thanking Bhanwari Devi because of whom we have the now landmark judgment which gave us the Vishaka guidelines for prevention of sexual harassment at workplace. The judgment was a first in Indian law for acknowledging and addressing workplace sexual harassment.
@HavaldarShinde The PoSH Act that we now of today was based on the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court in the Vishakha judgment. So what is the PoSH Act and how does it work?

#JNU#sexualharassment#MeToo: In that case, here's what the POSH Act states. Malicious intent has not been proven. And the mere inability to prove the case doe NOT merit punishment as harsh as being recommended by JNU ICC.
So what are the punishment suggested? For starters she's being treated like a common criminal. Please remember this is a student we are talking about.
