The PV video doesn't even mention the caravan, it's refugees already in the country and processed. And the campaign didn't pay them, they paid a local charity. Legally.

The fact that @tedcruz immediately leapt on a conspiracy theory based on edited footage from a convicted criminal who has a long history of scamming reporters should really tell you how scared he is of @BetoORourke.

The truth is, Cruz knew full well this was a horseshit hoax from the start. He's not an idiot. But he chose to fan the flames and get the hoax circulating.
