11/21/48 from 8:30 to 9:45 pm on WCBS' "Film Theatre of the Air.'' At least the fifth NYC broadcast on four different stations for Beaudine's 1941 PRC skyjacking thriller. Debut 3/19/45 on WNBT; 5/20/48 on WCBS; 9/5/48 on WATV; 10/9/48 on WJZ.
11/21/53 from 1 to 2 pm on WCBS' "Picture for a Sunday Afternoon.'' Christy Cabanne's 61-minute Bronte adaptation for pre-merger Monogram appears to have made its NY TV debut 8/2/53 on Channel 2's "The Late Show.''
11/21/58 at 11 pm on WNEW's "Five Star Movie.'' At least the 23d New York City broadcast (on 4 different stations) for Capra's independently-produced Yule chestnut, which bowed 12/2/50 on Channel 5 and would hit the other three VHF channels before its copyright expired in 1969.
11/22/63 at 9:30 am on WOR's "Love Story'' and WNEW's "10 O'Clock Movie.'' Both films began their second scheduled runs of the day at 1:30 pm, most likely interrupted 10 minutes later for a bulletin from Dallas that President Kennedy had been shot.
11/22/63 at 11:20 pm on WCBS' "The Late Show.'' Friday night premiere was postponed, one of dozens of scheduled film showings on NYC 7's VHF stations that were preempted for blanket assassination coverage through the day of the funeral on Monday 11/25.
11/22/68 at 12:30 pm on WOR. Wayne's six non-western B's for Universal haven't been on TV in eons, never mind DVD. Yup's that future MARNIE mom Louise Latimer in Arthur Lubin's 67-minute 1937 mini-epic about long-haul truckers.
11/22/73 on NBC. CBS owned more than 80 percent of 1964 musical thanks to backing Broadway show, but had to submit bids along with other networks to satisfy partners. Winner reportedly paid more than $3 million for 2 runs. Eastern Airlines and J.C. Penney sponsored US TV debut.
11/22/78 from 2:32 to 4:59 am on WNEW's "Hollywood's Finest.'' DeMille's 1934 spectacular made NY TV debut 11/18/60 on WCBS.
11/22/83 from 1 to 2:45 am on WABC. Poor Fontaine finished up her Hal Wallis contract with a loan-out to producer Nat Holt to play an atomic scientist in Warren's 1953 CASABLANCA variation that was mostly exhibited in two dimensions. A clip turns up in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN.
11/22/88 at 2:30 am on WABC. This one seems a stretch for Channel 7. Copyright for 1932 classic expired in 1960, but Janus used underlying rights to keep thriller (that RKO sold off for 1956 remake) out of public-domain hell until Janus' lawyers finally seemed to give up.
11/22/93 at 9 pm on The Disney Channel. After decades in heavy rotation on local stations (NY TV debut 7/8/50 on WCBS), 1942 Lubitsch masterpiece plays the Mouse House during its Hollywood Classics era.
s11/22/98 at 12:30 am on TCM's "Silent Sundays.'' Though re-released as late as 1931 with a synchronized soundtrack, 1925 smash hit had to wait until 8/11/73 for its US TV debut as the kickoff off PBS' "Movies, Great Movies'' series of MGM silents.
11/22/73 from 4 to 6 pm on WPIX. Though I associate heart-tugger mostly with WNEW's 10 o'clock broadcasts on Thanksgiving mornings, 1947 classic oddly made its NY TV debut at 11 pm on 12/20/59 on WABC's "Sunday Night Movie.'' 1947 Brits didn't know from 34th St.
