Why do I love the Galactic Empire? Because Imperial rule is the only government that makes sense for a territory that is both vaster & more diverse than we can imagine on Earth. Because a federally-styled empire demonstrably improves quality of life & stability for its citizens.
"But they're evil! 😩"

Wrong. Emperor Palpatine, as a Sith, was obsessive, grasping, and destructive, but his model of government worked. Individuals were corrupt, but under the Imperial system, there were fewer corrupt individuals & they had less power than in the Old Republic.
"But they're RACIST! 😱"

False. Again, some individuals--like Tarkin--exhibited racism. But Lucas had to be aware of what the books were publishing about "Palpatine the racist" and he clearly overwrote it in the PT. There was no government policy favoring any racial supremacy.
"But SLAVERY?! 🥺"

Not legal under either the Republic or the Empire; the laws could actually be enforced under the Empire. Tarkin owned a slave illegally, but he was corrupt & self-serving. Jabba had slaves but he was a CRIMINAL. Penal servitude was a thing but ≠ legal slavery
Don't make a Death Star out of a firecracker. Just because you see Childsen call Chewbacca "thing," don't interpret that to mean that EVERY Imperial officer is a fair-haired human male enforcing a government policy of racism. There's hundreds of other ways to explain his comment.
Yes Lucas drew inspiration from Nazi Germany. He also drew from Rome & more. Note E3's crawl: "There are heroes on both sides." Good & evil CAN be defined, BUT it takes more than a surface glance. I know complex thinking isn't popular--but it's necessary. So I'm a proud Imperial.
That's what the Empire has been falsely accused of. What about the tangible benefits it would provide? 1) The power to actually enforce laws, like the anti-slavery laws the Republic was impotent over. 2) Protection of hyperlanes against pirates, leading to increase of trade.
Ever heard of "Pax Romana"? Safe travel means better economy, better relations between systems, better education & employment opportunities. Common citizens no longer had to fear for their kids being stolen by religious fanatics. The Imperial system was good for its people.
