As far as I know the IGP wasn’t aware of this. The spokesperson for the FHQ is unaware. The DC of IGP X Squad has no idea what is going on. Who are the criminals that took laws into their own hands?! We deserve to know this! A name please. ⏰
I have just read a statement by @NPFSpokesPerson and he has called back expressing the concerns based on the report sent to his office on the rationale for the arrest. Most of @adeyanjudeji’s posts on Facebook were extracted and presented as constituting a threat to public peace.
We have however maintained and established that peaceful Protest is not against the law but we must clear the defamation& threats some of the posts portends to them. The admitted charging him to court & we have insisted on his grant for bail.
The Police according to @NPFSpokesPerson will abide by the law and release Deji following the outcome of the court order. We are monitoring as well. The Perception of some of the materials for the Protest sparked the concern on public unrest that may follow according to him.
They are on the clock and we will ensure DEJI is released as discussed. The gaps in understanding may have led to institutional apprehension and subsequent reaction to prevent break down of law and order. We all can see from each other’s side #FreeAdeyanjuDeji #ProtestIsNotACrime
The @PoliceNG believe some of the posts prior the planned protests could’ve led to incitement of the public leaving the assembly out of the control of the organizers. There were many more shown to me during the dialogue that could have been misread as an attack on the state. 
I however point out also the fact that the public who have no knowledge of some borderline defamation paraphernalia could also deem this oppressive & subjugation of free speech via peaceful protest. So we just have to meet at the middle here. Police also have a job to do.
We are still demanding that police and the security services remain a fair and non partisan umpire at the polls. We will address this in a more engaging way without polarizing issues along political lines. But @adeyanjudeji MUST be released to douse the tension & clear doubts.
DCP Jimoh Moshood Assured me this will happen and the court order will be respected. We are still monitoring and hoping for the best. We will resume engagement on the matter with advocacy without the need for incitement of the public. Thank U for understanding. #FreeAdeyanjuDeji
