“All of America’s veterans are saddened by the passing of President George H. W. Bush. His courage in combat was special even during the war in the Pacific, where our forces demonstrated some of the highest levels of valor and heroism in our history.
When holding the highest offices in our country, he never forgot those who wore the uniform. The Department of Veterans Affairs sends its thoughts and prayers to the Bush family in remembrance of this extraordinary American.”

I was fourteen, too young to know which party truly stood for what thing, or what my own ideology was. I was disturbed when David Duke from the KKK became a major party nominee for Governor. Like, how could this happen in 1991 America?
But then President Bush stood up and said Republicans shouldn’t vote for Duke because he was a racist, and they should just let the Democrat win that race instead. It had a big impact on me as a kid...

I am thinking of them during this time of sadness and celebration of a life well-lived.
With the passing of President George H.W. Bush, a lifetime of extraordinary and honorable service – from the cockpit to the White House – has come to an end.
When it’s all said and done, President Bush was one of the best examples of goodness, decency and bravery to ever achieve the Presidency.

He is a great role model for all of us still in the fight and those who aspire to service in the future.
