Today, my thoughts are with the Bush family who are some of the most incredible people I have ever met.

I am thinking of them during this time of sadness and celebration of a life well-lived.
With the passing of President George H.W. Bush, a lifetime of extraordinary and honorable service – from the cockpit to the White House – has come to an end.
When it’s all said and done, President Bush was one of the best examples of goodness, decency and bravery to ever achieve the Presidency.

He is a great role model for all of us still in the fight and those who aspire to service in the future.

A truly great American.

Just met with President @realDonaldTrump and his team.

It’s clear to both of us that Democrats don’t want to make a deal and will never support border wall/barriers.
@realDonaldTrump They hate President Trump more than they want to fix problems — even problems THEY acknowledged to be real and serious in the past!

Democrats will do everything in their power to stop Trump in 2020.

I learned a lot from President @realDonaldTrump about our efforts in Syria that was reassuring. (1/3)
@realDonaldTrump The President will make sure any withdrawal from Syria will be done in a fashion to ensure:

1) ISIS is permanently destroyed.

2) Iran doesn’t fill in the back end, and

3) our Kurdish allies are protected.
@realDonaldTrump President @realDonaldTrump is talking with our commanders and working with our allies to make sure these three objectives are met as we implement the withdrawal. (3/3)

I’m very glad to see the President and First Lady visit our troops in Iraq.

It’s always good for morale to have a visit from the Commander in Chief.

We must remember these troops are in Iraq to retake ground from ISIS after Obama’s ill-conceived withdrawal.

The worst thing for morale would be to give back to the enemy territory that was previously taken through blood and sacrifice.
I hope President Trump will not do in Syria what Obama did in Iraq -- which led to the rise of ISIS.

We also must not abandon our Kurdish allies who have fought so hard by our side in Syria.

Today I celebrate a life: that of my grandmother, Annette Doyle, who passed today at just under 101. A life well-lived and an example to me. Here’s her favorite family picture. The photographer made a rude noise that alarmed the dog, and hilarity ensued. My is mom back left. /1
/2 I was blessed to have a chance to say goodbye yesterday and to help take care of her needs today. That is, after all, what this whole ridiculous business is about: that we’re here for each other, care for one another, and live in memory.
/3 I heard a great story about her today I hand them before. 1945, grandpa was coming back from the Pacific, due in SF port. She stowed mom with her parents and reserved a room at their favorite hotel in SF. But how to find him, to meet him?

Okay. So I'm thinking a lot about Orson Card. It's all kinda vague but I'm gonna try and sort it out here and see if I end up anywhere.

Because I want to make sense of some things in my life.
To start, the Ender Quartet, especially the Speaker books, remain one of the most profound and important literary experiences of my life. I was gifted the Ender's Game by a beloved teacher toward the end of 8th grade, right before I moved across the state. That context matters.
The teacher, Mrs. Wilson, taught me 6th grade Language Arts, and we remained close all through middle school. She saw an untapped, unrealized potential in me -- and told me as much, so this isn't an exaggeration -- and wanted more than anything for me to read Ender's Game.
