Late last month we launched a very helpful self-service management feature for Amazon WorkSpaces. Users can change their running mode, compute type, and disk size. They can also rebuild their WorkSpace. The feature is accessible from two locations. First, before signing in:
And second, while already signed in:
I can increase the size of my C: and D: volumes
I can change the compute type, with 5 choices ranging from 1 to 8 vCPUs and 2 GB to 32 GB of memory:
I can also change the running mode, choosing between AlwaysOn and AutoStop:
I can even initiate a rebuild of my WorkSpace, resulting in a fresh C: volumen and a D: volume that reflects the latest backup (taken every 12 hours):
Finally, the WorkSpaces Administrator gets to choose which of these features and options are available to me (specified on a per-directory basis):
