@Official_MattM As someone who is black and a huge Star Wars fan, I sincerely disagree. I believe the majority of Star Wars fans and critics are not racist, but are very passionate about the world of continuity of Star Wars. The racists and misogynists are in the minority. However...
@Official_MattM For example, I'm someone who is a moderate fan of the OT, mixed about the PT and holds a strong dislike for the ST. However, ever since Disney bought Star Wars, my outlook on the brand has diminished greatly.
@Official_MattM For whatever reasons, George Lucas stayed on the Star Wars ship post-Disney for a brief amount of time, then dipped out. This, I believe was a fatal mistake after doing away with his story treatments after the acquisition.
@Official_MattM In regards to TFA, I'll admit. I enjoyed the film when it first came out, but as time passed on, I came to realize that The Force Awakens simply circlejerked all over OT nostalgia and was a carbon copy of ANH. Didn't age well for me.
@Official_MattM Rogue One for me, was a classic. It reminded me of why I fell in love with Star Wars. It felt like a love letter to George Lucas for creating the Originals and the Prequels. That film sought to honor what came before. The Last Jedi was a different story.
@Official_MattM The Last Jedi, I believe was made with good intentions, but failed to honor what came before and broke up the magic of Star Wars by dishonoring the OT and PT. TFA also deserves this criticism as well.
@Official_MattM Despite my many misgivings and issues with The Last Jedi, I never sent any death threats or warnings to the cast and crew of TLJ. No one deserves such. Kelly Marie Tran did not deserve the mockery and hatred she received at all. She was simply fulfilling her job.
@Official_MattM What I find troubling though is a corporation or company painting every critic of the Sequel Trilogy as some alt-right racist trolls or anti-progressive misogynists.
@Official_MattM Those voices should be ignored or outed, but when you group those who simply want to voice their serious concerns about the direction of SW post-TLJ with those who wish bigotry or worse on others, then you're not inviting a healthy conversation. It's making it worse.
@Official_MattM BTW, Matt. Star Wars has been through this bullshit before. Remember Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd? It wasn't just the fans, but the media outlets as well.
