People so spectacularly missing Tiffany Haddish’s point.

And everything she says is accurate. A recent study showed that people would save a dog from an accident before they would certain “classes” of human beings, including those they deemed “criminal.”…
Please understand I am in no way equating Blackness with criminality.

We live in a society where Willie Horton tropes thrive & Black & Brown people make up the overwhelming number of people in prison so that was why I made the correlation.
And unfortunately the study did not consider race as a variable.
Here’s the study.
It’s actually by the World Economic Forum & the participants are people from all over the world, which is perhaps why race isn’t a category.

Would love to see the results of an American sample. Can’t help but feel they would be so much worse.
And people I have 2 little cats who I adore, I watched the video of that poor dog being abandoned in England & cried. I don’t wear fur. I love animals. But that’s the whole thing. That’s nothing about what she was saying.
What makes me cry harder though is reading this study and thinking that people place less value on my clients’ lives than a dog. That they wouldn’t save them in an accident.
That’s a whole lot of the reason why I became a public defender.
