Have dusted off my Nintendo Wii and playing through Super Mario Galaxy with my 8-year-old. Extreme fun and pleasure!
Such an amazingly imaginative and charming game and surprisingly good with two players
Watching a child play a classic Nintendo game for the first time is an amazing pleasure. These games are magical. Takes me back to playing Super Mario World on my friend's imported Super Famicom in 1991 #nerd

In the final para here @NickCohen4 suggests that under a Corbyn Labour government the Human Rights Act would be threatened as it places checks on governments... not sure about that! Certainly no signs of it in anything any Labour politician has said
I do get the point and also worry about some of the anti-dissent tendencies around Corbyn's movement. But whether a Corbyn government would go as far as unravelling the HRA which he and his colleagues have clearly supported, I doubt.

What a shame. I was heartened to see the Golders Green mosque, which got a lot of nasty criticism from within the Jewish community when it took over the building, was organising an outreach event commemorating Muslims who helped Jews during the Holocaust. Now cancelled.

I think the as-to-now history of video games is *very* comparable to the early history of film.

The first movies were equally as primitive as Pong or the early run of Atari 2600 games. The point was just to see motion.

Eventually, movies started becoming more like plays...
with multiple scenes and a story, but even then, the mechanics were very different. It used to be common for a film to be 2 shots - each showing the same event, but from different perspectives.

For instance, the first shot would be people inside a burning building being...
rescued, while the second shot would be the same thing over again but this time from outside the building.

This leads into the early film genres, which were just as simple and restrictive as current video game genres. There was the "firefighter" genre, of a fire department...

I did something similar to this 5 years ago, in anticipation of EC & @theroots' Wise Up Ghost LP, on tumblr.

(You can still find all those posts if you look, although a lot of the YouTube links etc are now dead ends. It was 40 Days Of EC then, so for 2018 I'm upping it to 45.)
Mostly I will be going chronologically from the early years right up to the present, but it feels right to start out with Costello's 2002 song, "45."

Skyrim small tables are actually shelves buried. If you can't see it ...
In Jak and Daxter if by any chance the Area/assets ahead aren't fully loaded the game will make you trip to give it more time
In Super Mario 64 this is how Nintendo got the infinite stairs effect working, teleport. Also the reason why Speedrunners can glitch and skip it using the backwards jump trick

Ted Bundy. Serial killer, rapist, necrophiliac. Said to have killed at least 100 women. He often wore fake casts and would walk on crutches to convince sympathetic girls to help him carry books or unload objects from his car, where he would then kidnap them.
When police became suspicious, Bundy nailed smaller shoes to his own so that the foot prints wouldn’t match up to his actual size. He also worked at a Suicide Prevention Hotline during the height of his murder spree.
