It affects people of all ages especially teenagers and young adults.
Many have 1 or 2 episodes in a lifetime (which makes it easy for one to suspect his village people 😂) but it could be more regular in others.
Rapid Eye Movement (REM) is a stage of sleep in which there is random/rapid eye movement and loss of muscle tone (sort of paralysis). It is at this phase that one dreams. REM normally occurs when one is unaware of his environment (already asleep).
But...👇
Anything that will cause an alteration in your normal sleep pattern could cause this. Such as sleep deprivation (Rem the experience you had prior to your exams? Your classmate is not a witch 😅) stress, drugs to stay awake(coffee), irregular sleeping patterns etc.
Get a good night sleep (not less than 6hours a day), sleep at roughly same time every night, create a comfortable sleeping environment (remember sleeping on a mat in the village and had such symptoms? You were just uncomfortable! The villagers are not witches😂)...👇
Most importantly!
Seek for help from your physician. If symptoms are too recurrent, he could prescribe some meds that will treat the condition by resetting the REM stage of your sleep.
