hey, Twitterverse, has anyone seen a good estimate of how many contractors have been affected by the government shutdown?
I should note that we did a big story on the businesses affected, but offered no estimate. But it says there are twice as many contractors working for the govt as federal workers. washingtonpost.com/graphics/2019/…
Paul Light, the #1 expert on federal employment. estimates 1.2 million contractors are not being paid. nbcnews.com/politics/polit…
In other words, reporters who write about shutdown should say an estimated 2 million workers are not being paid -- 800,000 federal workers who will be paid when the govt reopens and an estimated 1.2 million contractors who have no prospect of ever being paid.
