Acts 13 this morning. I love this verse because we find within it a beautifully succinct definition of a well-lived life of faith:

“David, after serving God’s purpose in his own generation, [died]...” V36

That’s it. Essentially your calling and mine. A few quick thoughts…
1. God knows your name.
2. God has you here on purpose. He never calls a single child of His to a purposeless life. This is no small thing. I’m convinced after a life of observation that most of us can handle pain better than purposelessness. In Him, your life can’t not matter.
3. Your purpose is for THIS generation. You may as well quit pining for another. This isn’t your great great granddaddy’s world. This is the one you were called to serve in all its ills & thrills. Suit up & update your internal software. You’ve got one short life HERE. Now. Live.
4. Nobody can fulfill your calling for you. No one can know Jesus for you or know the truth for you & you by osmosis be set free.
5. Your fulfillment is in YOUR purpose. You’d never be satisfied with the person’s life you envy. Your purpose can’t be fulfilled living their life.
Own your own. And get busy. It goes quick. When all is said and done and you close your eyes to this earthly life, let it be said of you and me, “______________ served God’s purpose in her/his own generation.” That will be a life well lived.
PS. Reflecting on this thread and thinking, if it were me reading it, I’d want someone to tell me HOW. Start with this: begin each morning with God in Scripture & pray a simple prayer over that particular day: Jesus, live through me in such a way that I serve Your purpose TODAY.

Want to speak into this for those in a battle. God has allowed some furious battles in my life & some of them unrelenting & ongoing. I’ve thought at times I wouldn’t survive them...
Understand, I’m pretty hearty. I have a fairly high tolerance for pain. But, in a few of these battles, I felt torn to pieces. Honestly shredded. Several years ago, I sat before the Lord reflecting on all of this, utterly bewildered by a lifetime of 1 fierce battle after another.
The kind of thing I’m about to describe makes some people nervous (which perplexes me) but that’s fine if this helps someone. No, God didn’t speak out loud to me. Never has. But an unexpected question came clearly to my mind & I felt He’d stirred it: Did I let them do you harm?

AM reading, Acts 5. Sanhedrin enraged over apostles preaching Christ & gaining converts. 1 from the Sanhedrin stands & says: I advise you, let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men.
Jesus is unstoppable. When we join Him in His work for the world’s great good, we’re unstoppable, too. Oh I don’t mean we can’t be killed. But that’s what it would take to shut our mouths & then others would simply open theirs. We’re part of a God-work that cannot be stopped.
These apostles didn’t keep getting back up after being arrested & beaten to pulp for 1 they hoped was Messiah. They KNEW. Our faith springs from fact. John:”what we’ve HEARD, what we’ve SEEN with our eyes, what we’ve OBSERVED & TOUCHED with our hands concerning the word of life.”

I’m a serial hoper. Can’t help myself. I’ll think “this situation’s hopeless, admit it once & for all” or “this thing we’ve been working toward, praying toward, was a pipe dream.” I’ll try hard to be a pessimist but then Jesus. Then the Scriptures.And there I’ll go again, hoping.
I’ll think I’m too tired & Scripture’ll say God gives strength to the faint. I’ll think I’m too weak & God’ll say, I’m power in your weakness. I’ll think I’m too sinful & Jesus’ll say, Rise & walk, your sins are forgiven. I’ll think I’m too old & Scripture’ll go all Caleb on me.
For the life of me, I can’t get rid of my hope. God help me, I’ve tried. But I’m stuck with it because I can’t get rid of Jesus,
the Blessed Hope.
And so I wait.

“...we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God & Savior, Jesus Christ.”

We keep imploring the guilty to just come out & #SayBraveThings. Have we considered that maybe the reason they remain so silent & never speak truth is because the whole point is for humanity to CHOOSE good/God through free will with #FAITH (which requires an element of doubt)?
If the guilty were to just out with it all, it would remove the element of doubt. Then everyone would just know, and the opportunity to exercise/demonstrate #FAITH would be immediately removed, along with our free will to choose good/God over evil based on faith, not knowledge.
Instead of harboring resentment & frustration that the guilty always lie & don't admit the truth, why not thank them for helping us come to understand our own purpose in life & free will to choose God/good here on Earth in this lifetime, even & especially in the face of doubt?

For me, so far in my memory reconstruction, it seems like everything was just mind control; Pavlovian response conditioning through torture. But I remain open to the possibility that "demons" & "Evil entities" may exist. Per the Bible, ALL DEMONS SUBMIT to the power of CHRIST.
And whether these 'Demons' are objectively real ethereal entitles or simply subhuman people doing nasty sh*t to kids here on Earth, either way, invoking the name of Jesus & following Christ is THE WAY to escape this hell on earth. I know because I did it. Thank you God!
If I am ever feeling doubt, wondering if these "witches" are cursing me at any given moment, knowing that they target me on ritual dates with focused malice, I simply say aloud "Demons have no power over me. I am protected by Christ. In the name of Jesus, take a blessing & leave"
