I’m a serial hoper. Can’t help myself. I’ll think “this situation’s hopeless, admit it once & for all” or “this thing we’ve been working toward, praying toward, was a pipe dream.” I’ll try hard to be a pessimist but then Jesus. Then the Scriptures.And there I’ll go again, hoping.

I’ll think I’m too tired & Scripture’ll say God gives strength to the faint. I’ll think I’m too weak & God’ll say, I’m power in your weakness. I’ll think I’m too sinful & Jesus’ll say, Rise & walk, your sins are forgiven. I’ll think I’m too old & Scripture’ll go all Caleb on me.

For the life of me, I can’t get rid of my hope. God help me, I’ve tried. But I’m stuck with it because I can’t get rid of Jesus,
the Blessed Hope.
And so I wait.
