Quick question Twitterverse:

If we abolished every means-tested welfare program and got rid of the minimum wage, would you support something like Milton Friedman's Negative Income Tax? If you don't know what that is, watch this:
I guess I should also add that every department or agency running welfare would also go away. We'd shrink the government AND take care of the poor. Win win for both Democrats and Republicans?
Republicans used to be "the party of new ideas." Let's come up with some shall we?

Person 2 is definitely Randy Credico. Who's person 1?
Person 1 = Jerome Corsi. Getting through all these code names in the indictment is annoying.

ISIS flag clearly visible on the bomb.
also of note: the construction of this bomb is kind of silly. A large timer wrapped to the outside with wires just isn't needed. All of that could have been made so as to conceal it inside the device. This was made to be found... in my opinion.
That's also why the ISIS flag was placed on the bomb. The bomb maker/makers knew this would get flagged in screening, found and then reported on like crazy.

How do you intend to end poverty Senator? The govt has spent some $22 trillion on means-tested welfare programs since the War on Poverty began. Adjusted for inflation, this is three times more than the nation has spent on all military wars combined since the American Revolution.

THREAD: With the announcement yesterday by India's opposition party of an intention to implement basic income for the poor (not UBI) one of the more fascinating results I've observed so far is that the parties appear to now be fighting over who thought of it first.
What's so interesting about this development in India is that it's *kind of* like if a Democratic president was talking about implementing UBI if re-elected, and then the Republican party promised they would implement UBI if elected. Now the debate moves to details vs concept...
In India, neither of the parties involved are talking full UBI, but one is talking about a step centered around farmers, and now the other is talking about everyone under an income level. Unfortunately, neither of them really understands UBI, because each is focused on the poor.

What if neoliberalism and socialism are both flawed ideologies? The neoliberal critique of marxism is pretty solid. Hayek and Mises did a good job of demonstrating that central planning is problematic, yet Marx's critique of capitalism is also solid.
In the debates between capitalism and socialism—between neoliberalism and marxism—both sides have succeeded in demonstrating that the position of their opponents is problematic and that the system their opponents advocate is highly undesirable.
What this dialectic demonstrates is that these two systems—capitalism and socialism—are both undesirable. This suggests that perhaps there is some "third way" alternative between capitalism and socialism. Perhaps neoliberalism and socialism aren't the only options available.

Hello all, as this can be a crucial day for the new (populist) #Italy government I am now going to tweet a short thread on it, focusing especially on the (almost ready) M5S-LEGA agenda. At least 70 billions of additional debt are expected. How will Europe react? THREAD 🇮🇹
1. As I have been personally saying since the first election results (see here ) and despite a broad general skepticism on it in #Italy, a LEGA-M5S government was the only possible, given the circumstances after the vote. So, now we are very close to it.
2. Five Stars Movement (M5S) leader Di Maio and LEGA leader Salvini have been negotiating for days on a coalition contract (like in Germany). There have reportedly agreed on many points (we'll see later). But the big hurdle is: who is going to be the new Prime Minister?

1. For starters, the definition of “reform” is to make changes in order to *improve* something.

What Donald Trump and Speaker Ryan are calling for (to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and wealthy corporations) is huge cuts that will hobble essential programs.
2. Don’t take my word for it – just look at their budgets, which tell us exactly what they want to slash and how much.

For example:

☑️ $1.4 trillion in cuts to Medicaid
☑️ $197 billion in cuts to nutrition assistance
☑️ $72 billion in cuts to Social Security disability
