1/7 One of our major undoing as #Zimbabweans is our unconscious hatred for information and detail especially for a country & society that prides of high literacy rate. Prof. @ProfJNMoyo had this to say during a SAPES seminar “Whither Zimbabwe’s Nationalist Project” in 2017.
2/7 It’s maybe high time we get serious & forget about the literacy pride. We are in a fix as country partly due to our simplistic approach because there is no direct link between literacy & competency. If anything, competency is more linked to knowledge, skills & abilities.
3/7 Anyway, many argue that @ProfJNMoyo didn’t knew of the Coup, but listening to the seminar, one will have a sense that there was knowledge of it but the how, form & shape of delivery could have been the missing piece.
4/7 In fact, JJ Rawlings had this to say. So if you are paying attention, you can project. Simply because, no new wheel is being invented, what was and/ or is happening in #Zimbabwe actually did happened elsewhere.
5/7 Zaire (Mobutu Sese Seko) 1991-6 is the mirror image of #Zimbabwe 2008-13 with same circumstances (economic decay, factionalism, social unrest, confrontation, power-sharing) & tactics (Mobutu retained substantial power i.e. security services & important ministries).
6/7 We are back in that loop again. Toxic politics, now so vicious that everyone else who is not part of the system is a second class citizen to the extent that at certain instances your right to life is rescinded. The regime is anti-people with strong disdain for the youths.
7/7 The situation now calls for evoking a bit of brain power on the way-forward & making sure the old & stone age tactics of the stockholders is not allowed to see the light of day. One hopes that there is something left or can be salvaged for the youths & future generations.
Should a national dialogue/ conversation materialise, those who will be sitting on the table, history is drenched with all the talking points on behalf of the common men & women on the street. @nelsonchamisa @buildzimbabwe @APAZimbabwe @dewamavhinga
