Hey so one day after news of the inaugural committee subpoenas came out, @wnyc and @ProPublica published two fascinating docs that tell us something about the chairman of the committee, Tom Barrack wnycstudios.org/story/confiden…
there's a strategy memo, from Feb 2017, which suggests Colony can profit from it's DC and international connections 
then, there's the invite list to the Chairman's Global Dinner, a high-gloss event that hasn't happened before. The entire diplo community was invited, as well as over 100 guests on Barrack's own list, people from business & more
taken together, it suggests Barrack's co, Colony Capital (AKA Colony NorthStar) was positioned to profit from its proximity to power
And in fact, in the early months of the admin, Barrack got a private dinner with ambassadors from seven Arab nations, plus Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin.
unfortunately for Colony, the company hasn't done as well as hoped: they had a troubled merger. And Rick Gates, a trusted DC aide to Barrack, was snagged in the Mueller probe, and was fired.
A Colony spokesman told us the Feb 2017 memo "was simply an outline of a proposed potential business plan which was never acted upon or implemented. Colony at no time has maintained a DC office.”/END THREAD
