I read a lot of pieces that go like this "@jordanbpeterson says he's a Christian and here is my list of why in my opinion he's a deficient Christian." I find these pieces uninteresting for the following reasons. 1/5
JBP is notoriously famous for avoiding the Christian label or nuancing it. He does so because he'd like to (in some ways) explain with more clarity his relationship with the label, hence "act as if"... Like it or not, that's his move 2/5
Playing the "person X is a deficient Christian" game is always a description of difference. I/we (my tribe) believe or do (or don't believe or don't do) X and this person differs from us in this way. There's a place to do that. It's not always terribly illuminating. 3/5
For me the far more interesting questions around JBP are "why is he having the missiological impact he's having, in many ways outperforming the church in terms of attracting people to Christianity as an interesting and viable option for their lives?" 4/5
While I can spend a lot of time detailing where JBP and I differ, the most interesting difference has been his large missiological impact and my small one. THAT is what I need to learn and that is a better place to concentrate my efforts. 5/5
