i'm frustrated. i need every DSA member to understand that *WE ARE ALL* at risk. too many of y'all feel like if you aren't doing antifascist work, fascists won't come for you. that you are safe & separate from us on your side of the big tent.
i have very bad news: fascists don't care. they do not know or care if you are a marxist, maoist, anarchist, hoxhaist, juche enthusiast, democratic socialist, social democrat, or even just a liberal a hair too far left for the local democratic party.
you may see the threats i get & say to yourself, 'yes, but she's antagonizing them. i'm helping my neighbors register to vote! i'm handing out lunches to striking teachers! i'm fixing brake lights!'

they have worked themselves into a murderous frenzy over the idea that our political beliefs are causing their extinction. marxism is causing a white genocide, they're sure of it! so sure that some are prepared to commit acts of violence, murder, and terrorism.
as an organization we have grown quickly & have gained a significant amount of media attention. this is exciting, but it is grossly negligent for DSA to take your money every month without fully understanding what it means to organize as socialists in the shadow of fascism.
fascists are already targeting DSA meetings. last month proud boys crashed a @PortlandDSA meeting and later pulled a gun on someone.
last summer, proud boys infiltrated a DSA chapter in lexington, kentucky to learn more about their security practices
in august, neo-nazi billy roper posted the details of a @CentralArkDSA meeting on gab, encouraging other nazis to harass the library for hosting them. he was outside during the meeting, photographing license plates of every car with a leftist bumper sticker & posted them on gWSzA
WSzAafter an action i attended sometime last fall, neoconfederates posted online not just that *i* should be targeted, not just *my* chapter, but encouraged other members of the group to find & target their own local DSA chapter4Y5L
this is not a collection of coincidences. this is a pattern. as an organization we MUST undergo a radical shift in our understanding of this threat. there are concrete steps that can be taken to keep ourselves & each other safe but the first step is a massive culture change.
i sincerely hope that the national political committee and the organization's staff read this entire document. this is a domestic terrorist. with your members on his hit list. he is absolutely not the only one out there, he's just the one they caught.

i should add that this is BY NO MEANS an exhaustive list of the dsa chapters who've had run-ins with the far right. knoxville has an ongoing problem with former members of TWP & others, houston had an issue with patriot front, boston has had meetings crashed,
and don't forget @mdc_dsa members were exposed to great personal risk, with at least one member losing a job, after infiltration by far-right project veritas. the threat comes in many forms. being open socialists is the common denominator that makes us targets for the right.
