Morning earworm: "Sehnsucht" by Einstürzende Neubauten. I woke up out of a surreal, violent dream with this song in my head. Good morning!
Waking earworms: I woke up out of a dream again to one song ending and another beginning, both by Einstürzende Neubauten. The first, which was the end of the song, was "Fiat Lux" from their 1989 album Haus der Lüge. Here it is + 2 other songs from the LP:
I hadn't listened to that song in probably over a decade until I came across it in a tweet the other day which planted the seed in my brain:
Just as Fiat Lux ended, another song started playing in my head while I lay there mindfully listening: "Wüste" from the 1993 album Tabula Rasa. Usually I just get one song playing in my head when I wake, so this was unusual.
Here's a live version of Wüste. Not many bands can incorporate pouring sand into their live performances and make it work, but Einstürzende Neubauten can.
Wüste is the second to last song on the album, followed by the two-part "Headcleaner" which I tweeted the other day. I love this song:
Morning earworm: "Ardera Sempre" by Miranda Sex Garden, from their album Suspiria. I first heard them when they opened for Einstürzende Neubauten during the Tabula Rasa tour. They have a very distinct sound. Check it out:
They also did a cover of "In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator Song)" from David Lynch's film Eraserhead:
More Miranda Sex Garden: "Inferno" is a blistering 8 minute instrumental, also from Suspiria. If you like tunes which mix drums, electric guitar and violin then you'll probably enjoy this one.
There's also an "Inferno Version II" from a rare b-side. I hadn't heard this one before.
Morning earworm: "Christina The Astonishing" by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, based on the life of Christina Mirabilis en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christina…

You know, I bet this song would sound great with a viola da gamba @thegambageek. Or maybe two @ViolMedium. JAT.
... The connection to this thread: Einstürzende Neubauten singer Blixa Bargeld is also the guitarist for The Bad Seeds. You can see him and Cave singing together and hamming it up in the video to "The Weeping Song" ...
... And you can hear Bargeld's influence (imo) in their song "The Mercy Seat" ...
... Cave wanted to work with Bargeld after hearing him on TV, & described his voice as “a sound you would expect to hear from strangled cats or dying children.” I've always assumed he was referring to "Armenia" which was in the soundtrack for Mann's "Heat"
Here's more Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, live in the late 80's:
Post-nap earworm: I awoke with Einstürzende Neubauten's "Yü Gung (Fütter Mein Ego)" playing in my head. "Feed my ego! Feed my ego! Feed my ego!" That's what I get for reading about Trump before taking a nap.
Tired: Mercy Seat. Wired: Mercy Pear. An epic morning earworm courtesy of @Oglaf patreon.com/posts/25656624 vimeo.com/326711136
Morning earworm: I woke up out of a dream in which Nick Cave's "Sugar Sugar Sugar" had started playing, so it just kept going. I can't remember the dream, but it felt ominous.
