1/ Adult moose are huge, with females averaging more than 800 pounds and males about 1,100; some weigh as much as 1,700 pounds. It’s striking, then, that bugs the size of pinky fingernails—ticks—are bringing some moose populations to their knees. bit.ly/2NlOj4Q

1/ There’s a species of mushroom called the “Amanita phalloides” that is also known as—no joke—“death caps.” bit.ly/2G53mzs
2/ Death caps first appeared in North America in 1997, in British Columbia. Then they appeared in Victoria, and then in Vancouver. Now, they appear on the sidewalk in urban neighborhoods and have become a constant menace to those in the Bay Area.
3/ If ingested, death caps can cause severe illness within six to 36 hours. Critical liver damage is usually apparent after 72 hours, and fatality can occur after a week or longer. They account for more than 90 percent of mushroom-related poisonings and fatalities worldwide.

1/Good morning everyone, early on the Islamic State stood out from every jihadist group that had come before in part due to the Hollywood-esque propaganda videos it put out. One of the most famous is “Flames of War,” published in late 2014, narrated by an English speaker.
2/ Immediately, there was interest in the narrator of the video, which shows prisoners forced to dig their own graves before being shot in the head. He sounded North American. The FBI even put out a call to the public asking for help identifying him: fbi.gov/news/stories/h…
3/ That same narrator would go on to narrate the most important English-language releases by ISIS, from its daily radio show, to an audio boasting about the Paris attacks. He was captured last month and @ivorprickett and I were the first to interview him: nyti.ms/2V7bm6r?smid=n…

Bravo, Mona. Heh, back in the 80s my friends and I called her Mona the Drone-a, but 14 years ago I was sneering and snarling at my girl Jennifer Rubin ;) Nothing to comment about in her article. She told the truth when telling the truth is the most difficult. Truth to power.
2/ Now I've been percolating theories in my head and TL about how someone like Trump could have ostensively captured the heart of conservatives of all people. Tom Nichols probably won't like it because I'm an ardent Democrat. But Tom Nichols doesn't have to read it, either ;)
3/ I will submit this historical thesis: Until the postwar period in America, conservatives, starting even before Edmund Burke with the Counter-Reformation, have never, *never* been anti-statists. Conservatives *always* supported the institutions of society and resisted change.

Nurses are reporting “still not water or electricity in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico since Maria.” Nurses have set up a clinic at a FEMA site and I’m quoting here “This was also FEMA’s first day there,” this is a report of today folks! Nearly 3weeks after hurricane!
I can't stress this enough folks! This nurses are leaving their children & families, taking their vacation time to go help our brothers & sisters in #PuertoRico they'll have no water, no electricity & no roof over their heads for weeks! This is a true humanitarian crisis.
