During our chat, @MimiRocah said that any double jeopardy motion by Manafort's attorneys would "not be a frivolous challenge," but rather a "very, very fact-specific" one that she believed Vance's office would surmount.
Unlike Mueller's famed "speaking indictments," NYDA charging papers typically say little, but the state Manafort charges do disclose dates of the transactions. Those can be cross-referenced with with city records and EDVA documents. Some of that analysis in my story.

NEW: In late 2017, the EPA— then under Pruitt — issued a rule criticized as effectively purging independent scientists from serving on key advisory boards and committees.

A federal judge just dismissed the NRDC’s lawsuit challenging that directive for lack of standing.
Standing is the legal right to sue, and Judge Pauley found the directive does not personally affect NRDC as an organization, except in the “abstract.”

(Service advisory: I’m away from my computer and can’t provide full ruling at this time.)
As the ruling notes, there are other lawsuits challenging this EPA directive.

One brought by the Union of Concerned Scientists was filed in Massachusetts earlier this year.

The new charges against Paul Manafort are different-but-related to those in the initial federal indictment against him — charges to which he pleaded guilty.

Manafort's guilty plea will now be admissible in the New York case.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office was quite strategic in filing the new charges against Paul Manafort. They're specifically designed to avoid double jeopardy claims, and since they're state crimes, Trump's pardon power is useless.

If he's convicted in the New York case, #Manafort could face up to 25 years behind bars in the state's "notoriously tough prisons.”

Judge ABJ: there are no factual disputes to resolve but several legal issues to determine - whether to apply an adjustment for acceptance of responsibility and an enhancement for a leadership role in the offense.
Judge ABJ says she received lots of letters from Manafort's friends and family. "I want you to know that I appreciate all the letters and I've read them all."
