I would really, really like it if reviews of THE SILENCE would stop beating the chronologically inaccurate drum of "It's a rip-off of A QUIET PLACE." There were plenty of things in this movie to complain about! Complain about real stuff, not stuff you decided!
Yes, I would say there's a good chance the movie of THE SILENCE got greenlit because A QUIET PLACE made money. But since Tim Lebbon didn't write A QUIET PLACE, he didn't get any of that money. Let the man get paid for work he did before A QUIET PLACE ever existed, okay?
If FEED ever becomes a movie, I fully expect to be accused of ripping off zombie properties that were created after Newsflesh was published. That's fine, as long as the check clears.
But when that happens, I hope a few people will point to the copyright dates and defend my honor, even if it changes absolutely nothing.

Let us resume our long, slow thread of Toby. THE WINTER LONG was the end of act one, and that gives us a good place to pause and read some short fiction. Lots of things that were formerly full of spoilers are no longer!
"Forbid the Sea" should be read after "Rat-Catcher," and focuses on Tybalt's first serious relationship, a long time ago in Londinium. CW: death of a major character.
"Heaps of Pearl" shows us the moment where Patrick Twycross met Dianda Lorden, and a messy, glorious love story began. The follow-up, "Shore to Shore," continues their courtship. The first two are available free from my website, "Shore to Shore" is available through my Patreon.

@iamjohnoliver I grew up across the street from a professional wrestler. His daughter and I hung out a bit. My brother was a HUGE wrestling fan and gave me his trading card to get signed for him. I remember it being odd that I’d never actually SEEN her dad? He was always away or “busy”. 1/

She told me that her dad took a lot of pills & mostly stayed in the basement either recovering or hung over when he was home bc he & her stepmom fought
@iamjohnoliver We were only 10 & 11yo but I could see she’d already resigned herself to the way things were.

She came back w/this card, and a few days later her dad was found dead in a motel in Minnesota.

This isn’t just about the wrestlers...

I followed up on this case the moment the news broke. It saddened me that we lost two souls needlessly to a queer and almost unexplainable situation. While on the surface we can place judgements based on the anecdotal narratives being proliferated, the issues are deeper.
The officers involved are men of Service at both ends. One is a dedicated father and officer of LASTMA and likewise the other. The one we would like to name a villain especially because of the obvious, he is attached to the indicted SARS and he fired the shot...
...in sane climes, a proper digging ought to be done into the culprit/suspect here. This is not because we can bring back the dead but because we need closure across board and must ensure that this never happens again. Here are my concerns on a personal note for findings...
