Let's take a look
This is... Really stuffed full!
Lots of groups of bags, that's everything in the core box laid out at once.
First thing noticeable right off the bat: default material is now grey instead of white. Also, this set of minis has way more pieces that require assembly.
Set dressing bits
Little guys
Gorilla warriors with bear and sasquatch from previous sets for scale
These kobolds have a lot of character and I lik that there's no repeats.
A crab, a warthog, and a crocodile walk into a bar...
Yuan-ti
ngl I'd be happy if the entire set was made of this weird green ghost material
Next time you make a PC, pick out one of the townsfolk sculpts, base your character on that, and see where it leads you
This dragon is the biggest thing in the box. Assembly doesn't look too finnicky, probably a good project to try and practice your skills before you do something super complicated because if you screw it up... Well, dragons are a dime a dozen tbh.
What mystery lurks within... The Bag of Bags
Demon sprues!
Big bruisers... There's a lot to put together overall. Get some Loc-tite.
Cockatrice, gryphon, and owlbear. This is where I'd practice my gluing skills on that dragon before I'd tackle these much finer connections.
Minotaur, tiefling server, and two duelists
Pathfinder iconics. WAR always puts such great detail in his drawings, glad to see it come through in the sculpts.
This set of undead and graveyard bits is great!
Warriors.
Some fun sculpts with these goblins
Not my style for D&D but I could see using them as pieces in a boardgame or for Inspiration tokens
Heroes, pt. 1
Heroes pt. 2
... You might need that large size tube of Loc-tite.
That's it for the Core set! Next up, the Darkreach expansion and the Barge of the Damned!
But first: lunch.
OK, I'm back from lunch!
The Darkreach Expansion has a lot in it but isn't quite so tightly packed.
Unlike the Core set which had a lot of Bags of Bags, everything in here is individually packed in its own small zip-lock.
Let's spread it out to get a more organized look
Troglodytes
Shroomfolk
Drow and bats
Epic ooze! Still love this tinted material. Displacer beast looks boss.
Svirfneblin.
Cave monsters and abominations.
Get the glue out.
That's the Darkreach Expansion!
Next up: BARGE OF THE DAMNED.
This thing is a beast! Here are the six largest pieces.
More pieces. I have to say: I hope that there are instructions online because there aren't any in the bag and this is a pretty hinky jigsaw puzzle...
OK aaaaaaaaaand
*waves magic wand*
Be a boat!
...
*taps magic wand on the heel of his boot*
Buildium shipicula!
...
*blows on tip of wand*
Sprucium expelliarius!
...
well shit
The upside to all that hard work of assembling the Barge is you do get a cool set of spirits to use as the crew.
Or the cargo.
Maybe both, hey - it's your campaign.
That's it! Thanks for joining me.
Now I just have to sort these in the previous sets I got...
Addendum: It's tempting to sort your minis by character class. May I suggest sorting them by how they're armed instead. Fewer degrees of distinction without a difference. (For example, is a PC with two short swords a ranger or a thief? Solution: file under Dual Weapon Wielder.)
