This is not a plug for Beto. But really revealing moment was when the Bernie circumcellions briefly thought Beto was a big deal and had their apeshit moment about him. Sirota had that list showing that Beto was like the biggest recipient of fossil fuel money of all candidates.
2/ This ignored the fact that he raised like three times as much as any other candidate so almost by definition he was going to be near the top or at the top of almost every kind of money. Also he’s from Texas. A state dominated by the fossil fuel industry. And those numbers ...
3/ are legitimately about people who work in that industry not just the industry per se. And lots of people in Texas work in the energy industry. Beto was running in Texas. So it’s an example of using a factual statement with the intention of misleading people.
4/ People who do this routinely are fairly known as being untrustworthy.
