Kenneth Harrison, 52, says in 2013, he ordered a doll online for companionship. Not a sex doll. Harrison is on the stand this morning in St. John’s Provincial Court.

On the stand today, Harrison explained he had a daughter, who died as an infant at six-months of age. Harrison says in 2013, he happened on an article that explained you could order baby dolls that were made to look like a real baby. That got him thinking. @VOCMNEWS

Harrison says he ordered a doll that he guessed would have been about 26-years-old. That’s how old his late daughter would have been in 2013. He says he ordered the doll for companionship, not as a sex doll. Says he was lonely.

When Lawyer Bob Buckingham showed Harrison photos of the doll seized by the CBSA, he testified it did not look like the doll he had originally ordered.

The doll has never been assembled, and Harrison has never seen it.

Harrison has now finished up direct questioning by Bob Buckingham. After a court break, the Crown will take the floor for cross examination. @VOCMNEWS

The Crown is asking Harrison about how he searched for the doll and ordered it. He says he went to google and searched “sex dolls.”

He clicked on a google image of a doll named Carol. @VOCMNEWS

Harrison liked Carol’s face. He wanted this particular doll. @VOCMNEWS

Harrison says the image of the sex doll took him to a website where he could order the doll. Says he saw the image of Carol, and “a deluxe set.” The Carol doll came with make-up and pubic hair. @VOCMNEWS

Crown asks Harrison if he intended to order a sex doll.

Harrison answers, “Yes, I had intended to order a sex doll, yes.” Says it cost $1,000 in Canadian money. He ordered it from a Japanese site. It took him just a few minutes. @VOCMNEWS

Now the Crown is asking Harrison about the companionship he was longing for.

“Mr. Harrison, was Christian a boy or a girl?”

Harrison answers boy. Up until now, it was believed he lost a daughter. @VOCMNEWS

Crown is now asking why he didn’t order a man doll.

“You could have searched for an adult, man doll?”

Harrison: “Possibly.”

Harrison says it was because of the realistic look of the doll.

So now I’m hearing there was miscommunication between the Defence Lawyers and an ambulance wasn’t called until moments ago? 🤭

So I guess we can restart the clock on the ambulance wait. 🤦🏼‍♀️
