More #NXIVM trial tweets. This #thread is from after lunch on Thursday. They pick up with an immediate sidebar, which is redacted from the transcripts. Vicente remains under direct examination. He talks about moving up through ESP after moving to Clifton Park.
Vicente became a coach in 2006, a proctor in 2007, and a senior proctor in 2009. Says he had other duties including being the co-owner of the LA and Vancouver NXIVM locations. Also oversaw a NXIVM company called Moving Pixels which was essentially the video department.
Talks about enrolling others in ESP, says he would target people in the entertainment industry and people who were influential. Says he enrolled about 50 people personally, and then they enrolled other, bringing his organization to about 2000 people.
Prosecution asks how he would recruit, he says he would give a pitch and focus on a part of the person’s life where they were struggling. Says the pitches were designed by Raniere and he would give them different tricks to pull people in.
Vicente says some people would raise concerns about cult allegations, says Raniere had tricks to downplay this. He would say “Do I look like the kind of person that would get involved in something dangerous?” Says during intensives, some people would bring up the word cult.
Says intensives were built to deal with that. Says if someone brought it up often they would be asked to leave, and this would happen at least once every intensive. Talking more about Moving Pixels now, says it operated out of the basement of 7 Generals Way.
Vicente identifies a photo of the property. Says he worked with a dozen others on video projects for NXIVM. Vicente says he would essentially operate as the executive producer on projects. Talks about videotaping talks Raniere would give called forums.
Says Raniere wanted a “historical record of pretty much everything that was happening.” Says once he stopped recording a forum with one camera and Raniere became upset saying it made him look unimportant.
Says Nancy Salzman would also host talks referred to as coffee talks. Says she once made a joke saying “if you’re going to work with me, it’s a lifelong commitment.” Now the prosecution asks about V Week.
Vicente says this was all videotaped as well, cost in the thousands to attend, and was essentially mandatory to be a part of. Says it was a celebration of Raniere’s birthday and basically adult summer camp. All happened at the YMCA in Silver Lake on Lake George.
Now talking about a Mormon community in Mexico called LeBaron that Vicente wanted to make a film about. They were polygamists and Vicente had heard a story about a kidnapping by cartel members. Eventually, NXIVM created a program for girls from the community.
Now talking about a film project Raniere wanted to work on debunking negative media claims about him. Says this was Nancy Salzman’s idea, saying she said “I really would love it if Keith Raniere does not die a criminal in the eyes of the world.”
Now prosecution asking about a woman named Kristen Snyder. (Transcripts call her Christian, but I know her name to be Kristen.) Says she was part of the film concept. The story was that Snyder was taking an intensive in Alaska and left a suicide note then supposedly drowned.
Vicente says it was important for Raniere to set this story straight. Also said there was a concept to debunk the idea of a cult. Says they never ended up making the film. Prosecution wants to go back to when Vicente met Raniere.
Vicente describes the volleyball games that he was fist able to talk to Raniere at. Says they would be held from midnight to 7 a.m. 3 times a week. Says they happened at several different locations in the Capital Region.
Vicente says taking walks with Raniere was also a significant way to have time with him. Vicente describes a “turning point” in the company in 2009 when a number of people decided to leave.
The prosecution asks again about paying tribute and Vicente explains thanking Raniere and Nancy Salzman. Vicente says only once did he challenge Raniere around the end of 2016. Prosecution now asks is Vicente ever heard about Raniere’s “power to heal.”
Vicente says he heard about that, how Raniere could affect weather and technology. Says there was “this kind of mystique floating around.” At one point Nancy Salzman mentioned a “path to enlightenment through sexuality” saying Raniere understood it.
Says it took people time to be allowed to meet Raniere in person. Prosecution asks about June 2008, Vicente says Raniere asked him if there was a way to erase something from video without it looking like it was removed.
Vicente said yes and Raniere asked him to do that to some tapes. Vicente explains more about this process, says he was asked to delete portions that made health claims. This is where the court takes an afternoon break.

Supporters of the LGBTQ community gathered outside of County Square ahead of the controversial re-vote on the sunset resolution. I’ll have the latest tonight on @WSPA7. Here’s my story from yesterday: wspa.com/news/greenvill…
County council is packed. There’s a capacity limit of 227 in this room and we are full. At least 50 people are also in the lobby of County Square.
They are keeping the doors of County Council open so those outside can hear what happens. Seems like more people are pouring in by the minute. Maybe 100 in the lobby at this point.

Closing arguments happening now.
Solicitor Brackett says he's not proving that Lewis committed adultery. Brackett says Lewis was set on Nabors "from the word go." Says that's not a crime, but that the crime was that Lewis used his office to make that happen.
Brackett says the taxpayers pay money for the sheriff to keep the public safe, not for Lewis to "get in Savanah Nabors' pants."
