First things first: place was PACKED. Standing room only, probably 3-4 thousand people in the room, very high energy
Ann Widdecombe is one hell of a public speaker

She’s a 71-year-old dragon lady, hasn’t lost a step, spitting absolute FIRE

If Hillary has even 10% of Ann’s talent she would be President
Václav Klaus spoke too

Had to follow Ann (not easy)

Still have a beautiful speech on nationalism and the EU

Interesting article by the intrepid @inthenewera with an interview from Jeffrey Sachs. A couple of thoughts. First, Sachs clearly in PR mode saying all the right things though many of his statements still come off as stilted and wishy washy but I'd need more info 1/n
Second, my primary issue with Sachs was over Xinjiang and pleading ignorance or that it was "US propaganda" which was at best willful ignorance. If he says It is disturbing and UN inspectors should have access, I'll take him at his word that he wants that 2/n
Third, I find his entire mode of thinking about the US-China relationship problematic but I find it so commonly among Americans, Europeans, even Democrats and GOP that I don't prioritize it but I want to explain why I find it deeply problematic. 3/n

Where is the defamation case against the men who say "Don't work with her, she's difficult, she's crazy, she's a feminazi with an axe to grind" about the women they propositioned or pressured who turned them down?
Men's whisper networks are about which women are compliant and tractable vs. "difficult" and "crazy". If media men made a list of women to avoid it would be about who doesn't put up with them and who doesn't put out for them.
Sooner or later every woman who stands up for herself is somebody's "crazy ex", "bitchy boss", "difficult co-worker", etc. Probably a lot of the men on the media list have spread these very labels about the women who put them on it.

Ok, my take on yesterday (thread):

It was supposed to be a dispassionate, bipartisan search for the truth concerning some deeply troubling, highly credible allegations. During Ford’s testimony, it was treated by both sides with the seriousness it deserved.

Then came #Kavenaugh
Guilty or innocent, I’d expect him to be upset. What I didn’t expect was the total abandonment of decorum, maturity, good-faith cooperation, and pursuit of truth. He shouted, interrupted, evaded, and outright refused to answer questions.
It was beneath the dignity of the position he’s nominated for, and what’s worse, he actually *framed* his recalcitrance in partisan terms—sweeping generalizations and even conspiracy theories about an entire political party, in an effort to shift both blame and focus.

Hebron is the home of one of Islam's holy sites, the Ibrahimi Mosque.
It also happens to be a Jewish holy site named after Abraham as well.
