This, by @DavidScullion, is disingenuous and silly.
First, no attempt to engage with the point made here. But anyone who spouts no deal rhetoric without engaging with that point is either disingenuous or hasn’t bothered thinking about the consequences of what they are proposing.
Second, note the complete misrepresentation of the @instituteforgov report - which pointed out that the HoC can stop “no deal” by passing a vote of no confidence and installing a pro-extension (or, if refused, revoke) PM. See also my thoughts on that here.

NB - though eg @ShankerASingham and others have been talking about U.K. access to US financial services markets and defence procurement, there’s no sign of them in the US negotiating position here. ustr.gov/sites/default/…
Indeed, U.K. access to defence (as well as sub-Federal ie most US public sector) procurement is expressly ruled out.

Quite. So the examination question for Tory leadership candidates ready to accept “no deal” (so far failed by all) is to explain why the U.K. would be in a better position to get a good deal with EU after a no deal Brexit than it is now.
Candidates will fail the question if: (a) they use the phrase “The EU needs us as much as/more than we need them”;
(b) they refer to Article XXIV GATT (unless to explain why it isn’t of any help);

This is a very interesting interview with @michaelgove, to which I may be able to add some personal observations. Nothing startling but perhaps informative.
I knew Gove pretty well at Oxford in the mid 80s: we had a mutual close friend (an old friend of mine who was at school with him): and our teams were joint winners of the Oxford Union freshers debating competition in our 1st term.
He was a friend. Not a close friend, but certainly a friend. We drifted apart after university, as many university friendships do: but with no ill will. We just headed in very different directions.

Here's something I've been studying on here for a bit. A lot of men, seem to have been conditioned to think that telling someone that you disagree is the same as asking them a question. Like the way they learn to engage is by *creating a conflict*.
I don't think this is a small thing. In fact, I think it is the source of a lot of the unintentional frustration that men cause on here. (I'm only talking about those who actually "mean well".)
I have had this exchange numerous times. It goes something like this.
Them: I disagree. | I've had a different experience.
Me: I don't care. | What's your point?
Them: Geez, I was just trying to learn. Why are you attacking me?!

Here is my point:
Anybody saying, "Let's make a new party / be Independents" is not telling me what kind of a country they want. "Utopia" isn't good enough, I need details. (threadlet)
2. If somebody wanted to say to me, "here's the message - the SPECIFIC message - I want to take to the people at election time," and not even say the word "party",
3. I'd be willing to listen to them. I am emphatically not happy with what the formal Democratic organization is saying to the people.

So I dropped a good friend off at the airport today, and on the way back, I was cruising along the highway and spot this Ford Taurus ahead.
He’s the only car ahead of me, but he’s maybe 200 meters ahead. And in slow motion, he drifts off the highway onto the shoulder.
