What's up with former Trump lawyer, 'Jerome Marcus', these days?

He, 'perpetrated a crime' for Trump, he said.

I've been rather focused, elsewhere, yet stumbled into him on my rounds.

And are you familiar with 'The Black Robed Mafia' or 'Internet Defense League', per chance? Image
'The Black Robed Mafia'

Jerome Marcus, 'Trump Lawyer' and Mike Flynn defender, pens a legal opinion on a website of the same name, with a link to another called, 'Internet Defense League'.

Both sites 'use a service' I linked to The Kremlin awhile back. Image
Actually, they also go direct, too.

This little network extends... so, this is just a portal to a portal Image

Today might be D-Day for the Digital Services Act!

Together with the European Parliament & Council, the Commission has worked in record time to protect 🇪🇺 citizens online.

Here are the 10 things you need to know about the #DSA ahead of our (hopefully) final trilogue.

1️⃣ With great power comes great responsibility 🕷
The DSA is setting clear, harmonised #obligations for platforms – proportionate to size, impact & risk.

2⃣ A harmonised system to fight ALL forms of #illegal content – from counterfeit or dangerous products to hate speech 🥷🏻
Any national authority will be able to request that illegal content is removed, regardless of where the platform is established in Europe.

I Tweeted this in 2017, with a series of Tweets from 'a Hacking Operation that was photographed, documented and Tweeted' on Twitter, before and immediately after Trump 'got elected'.

This is what targeted racial harassment looks like: nitpicking things like “smiled” or “wore clothes like a celebrity, as a celebrity” or “bought cookware.” It is part of the “gold digger” narrative.
This is common in #healthcare#professionalism” where there is hazing & bullying by racist &/or classist made up non-rules lacking standards…yet people are called “breaking the rules.”

It’s exactly how bullies operate: double standards, mislabel/smear, exclude, marginalize.
In the U.K., “BAME” includes the formerly colonized, thus making race constructs or power different from U.S. as latter had race-based chattel slavery.

Thing is, those formerly colonized have many who have internalized self hate & racism.…

The fact that one is able to buy/sell #cryptocurrency is because someone mined it in the first place. This is what proof-of-work(#PoW) basically is. There would not be any proof-of-stake or proof-of-authority cryptocurrency models, had PoW not conceptualized in the first place.👇
Banning #mining means banning proof-of-work, which is the fundamental pillar behind generating all #cryptocurrencies. Many gamers in India use their computers to earn some pocket money through mining as well as #NFTgaming. For many, it is how they feed themselves.

NOT ENOUGH: The @NYCCouncil just passed the first U.S. law regarding fairness of AI-based hiring tools. @CenDemTech commends the Council for focusing on this key issue – but the bill falls far short.

Text of the bill here:… #algorithms Image
@NYCCouncil The bill has several fatal flaws. Most egregious? It requires companies to audit for discrimination only on the basis of race or gender - ignoring that #AI hiring tools can discriminate on #disability, age, & other features too.… #DisabilityRights
@NYCCouncil Because federal regulations already require employers to test for disparate impacts on sex & race, the @NYCCouncil bill doesn't actually require employers to do anything they aren't already required to do.… #discrimination #algorithms

Many #contextual link building #techniques that were once touted as the end-all solution to maintaining high SEO rankings have now been blacklisted by Google’s #algorithms and can cause hefty penalties. These techniques are intended to “game the system” of SEO and focus on the quantity of links going back to your site while throwing quality out the window. Not only do these not provide anything of useful substance to your users,… they can actually make your site look less credible and clog up the internet with shallow references to your site that might have no relevance at all.

For example, they might utilize spam-like tactics such as posting comments on other websites

1/ I'm sitting in on an @ifgevents live stream with @ICOnews's Elizabeth Denham… #IfGDenham

If there's something relevant from a public engagement perspective I'll add to this thread
2/ Some prepared remarks from ED first. The law worked best, she says, when the publics' views are put front and centre of any data use #IfGDenham
3/ Big things on her desk are #transparency, #AI #algorithms and #BigData < I wonder how many of those are big things from the public's perspectives? Suspect outcomes and impacts are much more relevant, less about data #IfGDenham

Late 1990: large platforms “emerged and started organizing the internet for what would soon become millions of users around the world.” For 1st time "the platforms acted as global “match-makers” B2C. With “ever-growing match-making” platforms have power, & control. 1/1
Power & control are particularly important 4 #socialmediaplatforms. "Clicks matter. The more content is seen and shared, the higher the income from advertising. Hence, it is not so much the quality or the truthfulness of the content that matters but its “virality”" 1/2

#TikTok is supper the 1.3 billion monthly active users (and I) can testify.

Its strength is in the #algorithms that use the 15-30 second videos to figure you out really quickly...and then feed you a never ending diet of video shorts that tickle your fancy Image
#TikTok captures more "signals" about you than any other social media platform...and in double-quick time

(Think about it...on #Netflix, you need to watch a whole show before they know if you'd more of the same. On TikTok, they've figured that out in a couple of minutes) Image
Which all makes TikTok a perfect place for #ecommerce. Especially when you can add influencers like 16 year old #CharlidAmelio and her 123m followers (her videos have been Liked 9.8 billion times...which means they've been watched many more times than that!)

📊 Answers and discussions for this week's we(a)ekly quiz on greedy algorithms.

Remember: greedy's only a sin if you *forget* to try it!

Greedy #algorithms can be surprisingly powerful, on top of being very often quite intuitive and natural. (Of course, sometimes their *analysis* can be complicated... but hey, you do the analysis only once, but run the algo forever after!)

Let's have a look at a few examples.

Q1 asked about which problem was *not* (known to) have an efficient, optimal greedy solution.

53.6% of you got it right: Set Cover. Well, one reason is because it's NP-hard, so that doesn't help (greedy or not)...…

Why is #Apple getting so much heat over its new Child Protection Mesures?

They are well-intentioned, present no risk to anyone who doesn't store child abuse material on their devices, and, frankly, there's nothing new here

#CSAM #Privacy @WiserIn10…
Collectively known as #CSAM (child sexual abuse material), #Apple are not the first in #BigTech to use #technology to surveil its users for this
#Facebook has been using #algorithms to detect child abuse images since at least 2018 (which the CEO of Facebook-owned #WhatsApp seemed to have forgotten when he launched an outraged #Twitter tirade at Apple's new measures last week)
