I'm looking forward to doing the #TransitChallenge again next week! Here are some tips from my challenge in March (also see the amazing list from @rachelvetica).

Thank you @actfortransit @Andrew_Friedson @EvanMGlass @willjawando @hansriemer @CaseyAndersonPB @natalifani
Add some extra time to your walking route on your #TransitChallenge because you’re bound to run into constituents who want to talk on your way to/from the bus stop or Metro station. Having a chance to talk with more people is one of the best parts of not driving!
If you’re traveling with young kids, bring along extra clothes and hand wipes. My 3 year old took advantage of our #TransitChallenge to test out the dirt-digging opportunities at bus stops throughout metropolitan DC. Extra clothes and wipes would have come in handy.
Multitask by riding with friends or colleagues. During my #TransitChallenge, I rode Metro one day with Takoma Park Mayor @KateforTakoma and Councilmember #CindyDyballa, and we got work done on the way!
Take advantage of the range and depth of knowledge in the Twitter-sphere by tweeting out your transit questions. Thank you @metroreasons for explaining what a marker coil is when my son asked about it!
Don't get so caught up in apps & maps that you forget what you already know. Thankfully, I remembered I could go a different route when Google Maps sent my family to run across 4 lanes of speeding traffic & hop a concrete barrier (luckily, there was an easy alternative there).
Check the bus number before boarding at bus stops with more than one bus (duh!). I made this mistake and ended up with an unexpected tour of Palisades when I was trying to get back to Takoma Park.
Have fun! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s posts. Thank you to everyone doing the #TransitChallenge.

If you're a Twitter novice like me, you might learn about tweeting & transit this week. The #TransitChallenge was the most I’ve ever tweeted in a week. I’m still learning - didn't know @threadreaderapp can unroll your thread (!)... & how do you make those cool transit icons?
