On cursory inspection @sheffielduni make no mention here in the excerpt below nor elsewhere in the article of how many fixed term contract teaching staff - like me - they have already made redundant.

Or indeed that they have made anyone redundant...

Which I found odd since @sheffielduni made redundant 4UTs in my dept. alone.

So thank you again for your (non) recognition as outlined below in the article.

Assigning an issue to a committee is often used as a delay tactic, designed to placate as "see, we're doing something." But when you look at the "something" they're doing here, this is the LEAST of what they could do & of the options, it takes the longest.

I’m jazzed to hear #company and #HR leaders finally saying the word “racism” instead of “insensitivity” or “bias” (🥴) to describe the broken promise of our society & workplaces. But I’m also nervous that we’re embarking on what @sapinker calls a “euphemism treadmill.”/1
I hear “racism” but I also see upticks in trainings. I hear “racism” but it’s already starting to roll off others’ tongues a smidge too easily. Here are a few thoughts on how we can resist turning the current moment into the next wave of #DEI corporatization./2
#1: Reinforce that racism isn't normal. As leaders develop the fluency to say “racism” with ease, they must also be explicit about the fact that - although racism is prevalent - it never was nor will be OK. This emphasis will help secure racism as signal vs. ambient noise./3

Howdy #HR! Some #emplaw reminders for y'all as we navigate #COVID19: 1) As you go to a skeleton crew, yes, regular OT rules will still apply. Watch this. You must pay 1.5 times an employee's regular rate for all work over 40 hours per week.
2) If you do a layoff & you want to provide a severance with an agreement, remember the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act notice requirements. It may be best to put whatever amounts you want to spend on severance on health insurance premiums so if people get sick...
Right now, getting a release from employees isn't a top priority, so just giving folks payments or paying for insurance will be welcome from your people. Not getting a release is likely to be okay. We can worry about suits later. Do the right thing now.

I was waiting for the euphoria of #DelhiAssemblyElections2020 to reduce to post this. I am looking out for a job, it is no secret. But, responses to my applications are very less, I don't know why. But a recent one was blatantly sexist. 1/n
This is a #bangalorestartup, a #fintech working with banks. Got the founder's number through a good friend, he has been sending me a few leads. I got in touch with the founder (let us call this company X) of X. He asked me to email my resume, which I did. 2/n
Post that, I got a call from his #HR representative, after asking me basic details she asked me a few sexist questions. How many children I have? How old are they? Do they go to school? Who will manage them while I am away? Do I have adequate support to manage them? #Sexism 3/n

1/ In an ideal world, #HR would be a force for good, rather than firefighting. You wouldn't have to monitor compliance with 'silly' rules.  You would be an equal partner, adding value to any business decision, and not a scapegoat.
2/   You'd have a voice on the top table, and be the first port of call (not the last). As an #HR Professional, you’d have the confidence to apply knowledge of workplace culture and employment law to support business decisions.
3/ You'd be as closely involved as finance, production, or sales in planning, shaping and implementing business initiatives.  You'd have a voice from the outset, rather than be expected to provide quick implementation within inadequate budgets.
