There is, and pay attention to this all, absolutely nothing unprecedented about brahmin hatred. It has been rewarded since we became a "free country" in 1947, more so since we became a "secular republic."
This is infact rather stereotypical of the murderous, almost genocidal comments that one reads about being made wrt brahmins in India. Pretty much in line with what Islamic invaders or Christian missionaries did to brahmins in years gone by. 
Go through this thread of an exchange between Ghora ji & Zeneraal ji, and you'd see the propaganda that is peddled against brahmins in india.
It still continues to this day, in case you thought such just doesn't happen anymore.
Infact such hatred is given a wider platform by mainstream media in India, which never exactly gets held accountable.
